Ethical Analysis Of Facebook s Ethical Dilemma - 1084 Words
1. Ethical analysis of Facebook. What is the ethical dilemma presented by this case? The social networking giant Facebook, Inc. was incorporated in California in 2004 and operates worldwide with 1.49 billion monthly active users. It has many tools to connect, discover, communicate and share. Facebook has affiliation with Trend Micro Inc. for educating and protecting online users digital identity against malicious websites and malware. Facebook confronts controversies over the data collection and use of the broad data it gathers from its subscribers. FB users are worried regarding their privacy and users controls over the personal information given to Facebook. Facebook faces the situation of how to earn incomes from Subscribers data without abusing their security. Facebook management and developers neglected to consider its subscribers privacy terms, when it came up with new software that Subscribers felt to be intrusive and abusive. It gives a free service that subscribers pay for, basically, by giving insights about their lives, fellowships, hobbies and exercises. Facebook, thus, utilizes that trove of data to pull in online advertisers, application developers, web developers and many other commercial activities. Sometimes Facebook bypass its own guidelines on information security. Facebook obliges applications to ask authorization before getting to subscribers personal data. What are Carbon Nanotubes Essay - 543 Words
Carbon nanotubes are long cylindrical structures of small nano-scale diameters formed only by carbon atoms. These structures can be understood as rolled sheets of graphene into a tube. The interactions between carbon atoms are mostly deï ¬ ned as Van der Waals forces. If we categorize CNTs by their structure, the following division can be obtained: - single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) - multi-walled nanotubes (MWNTs) The above structures differ in the arrangement of graphene cylindrical structures . SWNTs have only one single layer of graphene tubes, whereas MWNTs have many. There are three geometrical types of nanotubes: armchair, zig-zag and chiral. Between these types there is a difference of how the graphene is formed into aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The latter is the most popular one as it has many advantages from large area deposition to low costs. What is more, it enables aligned CNTs growth at moderate temperatures. There are various conï ¬ gurations of CVD reactor used in the synthesis of CNTs such as horizontal, vertical or barrel. The vertical one is commonly used for large-scale CNTs production in which catalyst is ï ¬âuidized with high carrier gas ï ¬âow rates. The other method in CNTs growth uses a horizontal quartz reactor. It relies on the following carbon sources: gaseous hydrocarbons, e.g. methane or acetylene, or liquid ones such as alcohol, benzene or toluene. The most widely used carrier gases are argon and nitrogen. To prevent the oxidation of catalyst particles and production of various carbon impurities, in the process of CNTs catalytic synthesis hydrogen is used with the carrier gas [4]. In this method a non-uniform growth is observed as a result of the position dependent chemical reaction kinetics in the reactor. The growth rate, hybrid structure, diameter and number density of CNTs varies greatly, depending on the temperature and hydrogen ratio of the process. On the other hand spray pyrolysis CVD enables CNTs synthesis without the presence of hydrogen and at low carrier gas ï ¬âow rates. Here the growth rate and other signiï ¬ cant features of CNTs is also highly dependent on the parameter of the reaction, i.e. temperature,Show MoreRelatedCarbon Nanotubes : What Are They?1157 Words à |à 5 PagesCarbon Nanotubes, What Are They? Why internal and external influences affect 10dollarmall online customers? How does branding influences clients perception on a product? What are the kinds of branding impacts clients buying choices? Literature Review Introduction This study includes issues on the customer choice making procedure with accentuation on the shopper purchasing practices. Shopper practices allude to the choice making procedures and activities included in buying utilizing an item. All together that web shopping organizations could comprehend the shopper conduct, there is the necessity to make the advertising blend which will give ideal utility to clients. Hence investigating the what, where, when and how customers purchase. Customer Behavior Sargunani and Bruce (2015) contended, client's activities are in light of the client's response in utilizing the item or administration, which implies that the item or administration ought to leave a decent recognition to the client to think of him as or her fulfilled. In terms of comprehension the buyer conduct, as per Jones Christensen, Siemsen and Balasubramanian (2015) normal versus certain estimations of decisions; examination of genuine results to expected qualities; the conduct of the utility capacity; capabilities to the standard of lessening minor utility; and administrative ramifications of utility connections are the fundamental ideas to consider. Regarding the matter of style shopping, the clients' practices and disposition are normally impacted by financial, social and stylish measurements. Types of consumer behavior The sorts of customer conduct are dictated by level of contribution in buy choice and purchasers' level of association taking into account inspiration. The principal determinant spotlights on the significance and force of enthusiasm for an item on a given circumstance while the second determinant manages the data around a certain item and brand. There are close to home, social and monetary dangers and that the higher the dangers, the higher the inclusion for a shopper (Goldsmith, Stith White, 2015). Factors that affect consumer behavior While at it, it would be conceivable to observe the components that influence the shopper purchasing procedure: individual, mental and social. Individual are remarkable to an individual shopper including the demographic elements like sexual orientation, race and age. Individual components significantly influence the choice making particularly in light of the fact that dangers and utility are additionally extremely individualistic (Nwachukwu Dant, 2015). Therefore, the mental components incorporate thought processes, discernment, capacity and learning, demeanor, identity and ways of life. Intentions are the empowering drive ahead fulfilling an objective or a need. Recognition alludes to the procedure of selecting, arranging and translating data inputs so as to deliver importance. Changes in purchaser disposition are in view of data and experience and the ability to take in these, same with state of mind which are likewise gain from collaboration with other individuals. Information, then again, is the recognition with the item and mastery. Inside characteristics and practices; consistency with self-idea influences consumerism and also the steady examples of living of our ways of life (Claiborne Sirgy, 2015). Shopper state of mind effect purchaser conduct more contrasted with different elements. Our demeanor speaks to our preferences and abhorrences, subsequently inclinations and choices. As an enduring general assessment of a thing, mentality could fill a various need, for example, utilitarian, esteem expression, sense of self-expression and information. The mixture of purchaser demeanor recommend that there is an altogether different situated of state of mind concerning an item, the brand name and affiliation, the retailer, the organization and the channels of circulation and also the method for correspondence. There are three components which administer customer demeanor as: conviction the mental affiliation taking into account information between the item and a trait of such item; influence as affected by full of feeling reaction or emotive relationship in items; and expectation the conduct part of buyer mentality in view of the thought processes of the individual (KugytÃâââ¬â liburytÃâââ¬â, 2015). Social elements, at last, influence the shopper cognizance by means of feeling pioneers, parts and family impacts, reference bunches, social class and culture and sub-society. Feeling pioneers serve as the representatives wherein customers draw from their recognition with the individual himself/herself. The parts of the individuals consider the desires of you from your position inside of a given gathering. Social class, which additionally works in a bigger social pattern, recognizes the inclinations and the purchasing limit of the individuals, influencing their choice making and genuine obtaining. At long last, culture or the arrangement of qualities, thoughts and state of mind manages the level of congruity among its individuals. Given the way that these are transmitted to successors and other culture too through cultural assimilation, there is the rise of changing patterns and examples of conduct with respect to utilization and customer conduct (Nwachukwu Dant, 2015). Consumer buying process The buyer purchasing procedure is situated in six stages: issue acknowledgment, data seeking choices assessment, buy choice, buy and post-buy assessment. The main stage focuses to deciding the distinction between sought state and genuine condition. Item data could animate this stage forward to assembling data. Seeking happens inside and remotely, the first through memory and the second through advertiser commanded sources or examination shopping beside verbal. The accomplishment in this stage could prompt having an evoked arrangement of choices whereby the customer sets up criteria preceding measuring them. After the decision has been made, real buying in light of item accessibility will be considered. Whether the customer settles on the right choice or not in acquiring will be thought about on the last stage. This last stage is best clarified by the subjective cacophony hypothesis (Claiborne Sirgy, 2015). Branding A brand, notwithstanding, has worth to your business just to the degree that it helps driven the customers' purchasing choices. Seeing definitely how brands, similar to Apple, impact purchasing choices can be helpful in creating marking procedures for your business (Washburn et al., 2015). In characterizing the brand, a brand can be characterized as the "relationship" with the shopper. Connections are based on encounters. The association with a purchaser constitutes the total of his encounters with your image. Since the idea of a brand is the totality of a customer's encounters with the brand, the buyer "claims" the brand in light of the fact that he possesses his encounters with that brand (Dodic Auh, 2015). The Brand Image It is the present perspective of the clients around a brand. It can be characterized as a special heap of relationship inside of the brains of target clients. It implies what the brand without further ado remains for. It is a situated of convictions held around a particular brand. To put it plainly, it is only the shoppers' observation about the item. It is the way in which a particular brand is situated in the business. Brand picture passes on passionate esteem and not only a mental picture. Brand picture is only an association's character. It is a collection of contact and perception by individuals outer to an association. It ought to highlight an association's central goal and vision to all. The primary components of positive brand picture are- one of a kind logo mirroring association's picture, trademark portraying association's business to sum things up and brand identifier supporting the key qualities. Brand picture is the general impression in buyers' brain that is shaped from all sources. Buyers create different relationship with the brand. In view of these affiliations, they shape brand picture. A picture is shaped about the brand on the premise of subjective view of affiliations package that the customers have about the brand (Warnaby, Ashworth Kavaratzis, 2015). Brand Loyalty In showcasing, brand unwaveringness alludes to a customer's dedication to repurchase or generally keep utilizing a specific brand by more than once purchasing an item or administration. The advantages of brand faithfulness are longer residency (or staying a client for more), and lower affectability to cost. Late research discovered proof that more drawn out term clients were without a doubt less touchy to cost increments. As per Andrew Ehrenberg, customers purchase "arrangement of brands. " They switch routinely between brands, regularly on the grounds that they essentially need a change. In this way, "mark entrance" or "brand offer" reflects just a measurable chance that the dominant part of clients will purchase that brand next time as a major aspect of an arrangement of brands. It doesn't promise that they will stay faithful. By making advancements and unwaveringness programs that urge the purchaser to make a move, organizations are building brand dependability by offering more than only a commercial. Offering motivating forces like enormous prizes makes a domain in which clients see the publicist as more than simply the sponsor. People are significantly more prone to return to an organization that uses fascinating advancements or steadfastness programs than an organization with a static message of "purchase our image in light of the fact that we're the best (Dodic Auh, 2015). Online Buying Behavior The behavior of shopping online is more open than it has ever been in the computerized period with the presentation of tablets, cell phones, simple checkout frameworks and more secure frameworks. Therefore, the e-trade industry is creating higher deals volume. As per Li (2013), the online retail deals volume for the US 2012 is $231 billion. This figure is anticipated to become constantly to $370 billion in 2017. Forrester additionally reports that 53% of individuals in the US shopped online in 2011 and it is anticipated to develop to 58% in 2016, as per the U.S. Statistics Bureau, 20.3% of the U.S. populace is under 15 years of age. Expecting the online customers are over 15 years of age, most of the U.S. populace over 15 years of age, 66% shopped online in 2011. This is exciting news for web retailers. On the other hand, with more players bounce into the business and getting the shares, the conduct of online customers is something each web retailer is attempting to make sense of. The reason for this post is to gather snappy, noteworthy bits of knowledge about web shopping conduct that advertisers and retailers can use to assign assets and create methodologies. According to Li (2013), drawing from a pool of 4,887 online customers, the 25 to 54 year-seniority section makes up 65.7% of online customers, of which 59.1% are female. 57.3% of online customers have a yearly family unit wage above $50,000, and 77.9% have instruction level as some school or higher. Research Methodology This study will adjust an interpretivist approach in examination. Interpretivism is the essential exploration logic for this study in light of the fact that it permits the hunt, of the 'subtle elements of the circumstance, to comprehend the truth or maybe a reality working behind them. From the interpretivist observation, it is important to investigate the subjective implications rousing individuals' activities keeping in mind the end goal to comprehend their activities (Salazar, Crosby DiClemente, 2015). The exploration will be exploratory on the grounds that it intends to focus the present truths and certainties that are not yet investigated about the sensation (Gravetter Forzano, 2015). Exploratory exploration will empower the study to take a gander at the issue in both distinct and exploratory way. This methodology is a favored mean of discovering "what is occurring to look for new experiences" or "to make inquiries or to survey phenomena in another light" (Jackson, 2015). The research will utilize the vital methods for directing exploratory exploration, which include: writing hunt; conversing with specialists about the subject; and leading center gathering meeting. Data Collection Methods In this study, essential and auxiliary examination will be both joined. The purpose behind this is to have the capacity to give sufficient exchange to the perusers that will help them see all the more about the issue and the distinctive variables that include with it. The essential information for the study will be spoken to by the review comes about that will be procured from the respondents. A semi-organized poll will be created and it will be utilized as the overview device for the study. It is arranged that the poll will have a 5 point Likert Scale, and in addition positioning inquiries. Then again, the writing audits to be introduced in the second part of the study will speak to the auxiliary information of the study. Sources in auxiliary exploration will incorporate past examination reports and diary substance and insights. Some of the time, optional examination is needed in the preparatory phases of the study to figure out what is known as of now and what new information are obliged, or to advise exploration outline. In this paper, existing discoveries on diaries and existing learning on books will be utilized as auxiliary exploration. Sampling Comfort testing will be utilized. Accommodation testing intends to gather or meeting people who really encounter the sensation. Inspecting will be done on spots where human movement is apparent like the shopping centers and train stations. Referral system will be additionally utilized, a procedure which could be likewise sees as snowball examining. Online customers who will be tested will be inquired as to whether they know other individuals who are likewise into web shopping. Analyst will continue to contact those persons. Data Analysis The information consequences of the study will be broke down by deciding their relating recurrence, rate and weighted mean. Resource Requirements Access to the association picked could be troublesome, in spite of the fact that this can't be affirmed until such time when the association is now reached. To mind, there are business data about the association that are secret and can't be unveiled. For this situation, arrangement aptitudes will be connected and business secrecy of data acquired will be maintained. A composed report laying out the obligations of the analyst will be marked by both sides. Ethical Consideration As per Svensson 2015) trust is crucial in completing research in a range as this will make the exploration trusted and additionally ease asset persons' temperament and make them agreeable. Hence, the analyst has a part in making that trust in the middle of him and the asset persons. The specialist will finish this through consent from every pertinent authorities. This will be done through composing an assent structure expressing the examination theme, level of study, and the objective asset persons. On top of this, moral classifiedness will be maintained. It will be accomplished through guarding the asset individual's characters and keeping up secrecy in all data that will be gathered through doling out pen names utilize when alluding to them (Svensson, 2015). The analyst will converse with all members preceding doing examination to make them feel free and unleash all realities without keeping down attributable to apprehension or intimidation as this is the pith of exploration morals . Reliability and validity Measurement validity addresses how precisely the instrument measures the result or develop the intercession is endeavoring to influence. In this connection, an instrument is legitimate in the event that it really measures what you expect it to quantify. The researcher will employ scales in the measurement instruments with solid estimation legitimacy. Measurement reliability quality addresses the consistency of the instrument's estimation. That is the testing instrument creates the same result in comparative circumstances. Once more, think about a run of the mill measuring instrument. Evaluation and Feedback of Micro Teach Session free essay sample
The purpose of this assignment is to explain my selection of teaching and my learning approaches. I will be evaluating my choice of resources and explain how I gave constructive feedback. Evaluation When planning my session I wanted to ensure that I used interactive teaching and learning resources. I made sure that my PowerPoint presentation was in order and my laptop was charged. I ensured that the handouts for the quiz were clear to read and pitched my questions at the level of the group, should I have decided that the questions were too hard, I would not have spilt the group into two groups and completed the activity all together. I wanted the presentation to be informal and that the learners were comfortable and happy to ask question should they want to. I wanted to use resources that catered for all learners, I provided a PowerPoint for visual, discussion and activities for aural and a group activity for kinaesthetic learners. We will write a custom essay sample on Evaluation and Feedback of Micro Teach Session or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page When delivering my session I ensured that the lighting was suitable and that all learners could see the screen. The quiz that I delivered gave learners the opportunity to lead the session whilst still learning about the given subject. This also broke up the delivery and enabled me to see what learners were taking on board. I started the session using an ice breaker this enabled the learners to interact with each other, in retrospect I should have started the ice breaker by doing the task first this would enable the learners to feel comfortable and ensure that everyone understood the task. I then moved on to the presentation firstly highlighting the 3 outcomes that I wanted the leaners to take on board, I used the PowerPoint to highlight the objectives whilst discussing with the learners in more depth the reasons why I had chosen the three objectives. I then moved on to the first objective. I felt that when using the PowerPoint I used it more as a reference rather than reading it all out, the slides where clear and did not have a vast amount of information on ensuring that the leaners were listening to me rather than reading the PowerPoint, I included photos in order to make the PowerPoint user friendly. I ensured that I regularly asked the learners questions and used their names when speaking to them, this also gave me the opportunity to ensure that everyone was involved. When delivery the activity I should have double checked that all the answers were there as there was one missing. The activity was successful and gave the learners a good opportunity to interact it was stimulating and ensured that all learners participated. I split the leaners into two groups, I did this to ensure that all the learners where involved and did not feel isolated from the group. After the activity I went back to the PowerPoint presentation and continued to deliver. At one point I stood in front of the screen, I need to ensure that I am aware of my surrounding and do not block the learners view. At the end of the PowerPoint I included a quiz using five points that we had discussed throughout the session this enable me to assess how much information the learners and taken on board and if I needed to cover the points in more detail. The leaners answered all the questions correctly and there was a discussion around the answers, when asking leaners questions when delivering the PowerPoint I made sure that all learners were involved and asked them each questions relating to the subject. I summarised the session by going over the objectives again and asked if any of the learners had any questions. Feedback When giving my peers feedback I ensured that I was tactful and considerate. I gave examples on the points that I raised this gave me the opportunity to be precise and deliver the facts. I felt that I would feel uncomfortable when delivering feedback but I because I ensured that I used the ââ¬Ëlayer cakeââ¬â¢ approach it felt more comfortable. My peers gave me very constructive feedback, I will certainly take it on board, I stood in front of the screen several times thus blocking out the power point presentation, when delivering training in the future I will ensure that this does not happen. I valued my peersââ¬â¢ opinion and will take it all on board. Conclusion I felt that the session I delivered went well. I enjoyed delivering it. I hink that the activities went well and all of the learners were engaged at all times. I was not looking forward to delivering to my peers but in fact it was fine. As long as you are prepared, organised and know your subject matter then it is enjoyable. The more sessions one delivers the easier it becomes. I am a confident person and I am happy to stand up in front of people and talk. In conclusion I have found this task really interesting and enjoyable, and have learnt a great deal from it, I have also found it is making a real difference to the quality of my teaching.

Strategic Organizational Management in Moog Controls, Philippines
Strategic Organizational Management in Moog Controls, Philippines Free Online Research Papers Strategic operations management could not be illustrated in a simple form for Moog Controls since it involves the entire organization in its planning, execution and improvements. On the other hand, it can be simply described as paving the way for the organization to reach its future state based on its current status. Strategy involves the senior management team planning for the organizationââ¬â¢s competitive advantage, balancing and forecasting the consequences of these strategic decisions and finally looking into the long-term implications of such decisions. (Brown et al. 2005) The strategic areas that are encompassed within operations management include scheduling, quality management, process technology and inventory management. Bill Moog has always known that the work environment played an important role in any companyââ¬â¢s success. He has observed the manufacturing environments of other industries and noticed that employees worked better when they were treated with trust and respect. These modest ideas rested the base for what would ultimately become part of Moogââ¬â¢s much-acclaimed work environment and culture. (About Moog 2010) It could safely be said, therefore that the strategy involved in improving Moog Controls Philippines revolves around its human resources, from proper selection, training, developing and maintaining them, keeping them involved in achieving the whole organizationââ¬â¢s goals. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT The human resources function in Moog has evolved from being a business function in the organization ââ¬â administrative personnel maintenance tasks, to a business partner that catered to learning and development of employees, and finally as a strategic partner whose roles include talent management, performance management, competency management and succession planning. (Bhatia 2008) In the Philippines, a country that currently encourages its labor force to work abroad, selecting and hiring competent employees is difficult, simply because the salaries being offered here are a lot smaller than other countries. (Macaraig 2010 Torio 2010) On the other hand, doing business in the Philippines is relatively easy, considering that the business norms that the Filipinos value are the following: courtesy, social events, grooming and hygiene, dining, religion and superstition, equal opportunities, savings, and word of honor and integrity. (Andres 1997) These are the basis of most multinati onal companies in hiring, training, motivating and retaining their current workforce. Moogââ¬â¢s culture and philosophy revolves around trust ââ¬â an employee can trust that everyone he works with is competent. Moog Controls operates in teams, creating a democratic environment and job titles are overlooked. Employees are developed, recognized and rewarded for their efforts, making them proud of their output. Moog Controls, Philippines has accepted the concept of Hamel and Prahalad (1994) that the human resources must be linked to the organizationââ¬â¢s core competencies, being ââ¬Å"a bundle of skills and technologies rather than a single discrete skill or technology,â⬠ââ¬â and skills come from human means. Consequently, in 2005, Moog Controls, Philippines has been the recipient of the Personnel Managers Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Outstanding Program of the Year Award in their demonstration of the Filipino worker at his best, and the risk that the company has taken in trusting its employees. (Mosqueda 2005) Performance management A performance management system is a process that involves identifying, measuring, encouraging, evaluating, improving and rewarding employee performance. It is basically an employee appraisal system that (a) improves the employee performance by making them realize and utilize their full potential in carrying out their tasks; (b) provides information to employees and managers in making work-related decisions. (Purposes of Performance Management System 2010) From the feedback mechanisms, development concerns, documentation, diagnoses of organizational problems, diagnoses of organizational problems and employment decisions, the following employee necessities have been realized: Competitive salaries and benefits, work-life balance, educational assistance through academe and trainings in other facilities, attractive retirement benefits, stock investment options, comprehensive health programs, recreational activities, employee exchange programs, and trainings in other facilities (Moog 201 0). PROCESS MANAGEMENT Just In Time (JIT) JIT is fully dependent on an integrated and strategic approach linking customer requirements with supplier capabilities and excellence in internal operations. In Japan, JIT has grown into a total management system from marketing to delivery. It has presented Japanese companies with a sturdy competitive advantage over their Western rival (Harrison 1992). Moog has adopted this lean production, Japanese manufacturing approach developed by the Toyota Motor Company whose main principle is focused on the removal of all waste from the operations environment. The produced amount fills in the exact number required when it is needed. The major forms of waste or contributors or sources of waste that have been identified are: overproduction, waiting, transportation, the process itself, stock on hand, motion, defective and goods (Brown et al. 2005) Consequently, with the use of JIT, Moog Controls has also included the use of the kanban system or the ââ¬Å"cardâ⬠system of communicating to, from and within operating departments, signalling to trigger an action. (Kanban System 2010) JIT has addressed the challenges of Moog with holding inventory, such as, storage costs, loss or stagnancy of capital, obsoleting of stocks, revolving capital for the organization has increased, and losses to deterioration, theft or damage was minimized greatly. Understanding the risks and the magnitude of accountability when managing the risks involved in the JIT system has further motivated the employees to comply and exceed quality standards that have been put in place. AS 9100 Certification AS 9100 is the quality management standard specifically written for the aerospace industry. It has long been considered by some entities, such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that the ISO 900 series of standards are inadequate in terms of ensuring quality and safety in the ââ¬Å"high riskâ⬠aerospace industry. The existing description of AS 9100, Revision B, brings together its standard with ISO 9001: 2000 and has extra necessities regarding Regulatory Compliance and the following aerospace-sector specific requirements such as configuration management, design phase, verification, validation and testing processes, reliability, maintainability and safety, product identification, documentation and control of production process changes, production equipment, tools and numerical control machine programs, and many more. Accordingly, ISO 9001:2000 is completely incorporated within AS9100 in addressing aviation safety concerns. (AS9100 The Standard for Aerospace 2010) The Japanese 5-S Moog Controls Philippines also practices the Japanese 5S method of workplace improvement. This is a housekeeping system of keeping the shared work areas organized to maintain morale and efficiency. The main point of 5S is simply putting everything in its proper storage place lessening the time used in looking for things needed, improving the work flow process instilling ownership amongst employees. (5S: Japanese concept of workplace improvement 2010) The 5S are: Seiri (Separating): This is sorting only the needed materials in the workplace and storing or discarding those that are not important. Seiton (Sorting): This catalogues tools and materials in the workplace, keeping them close to the work station they are needed in, stored in a fashion that removes extra motion. Seiso (Shine): This simply indicates that the workstation and work area should be maintained clean after every job. Seiketsu (Standardizing): This means a consistent, standardized work practice. Each employee knows exa ctly what his tasks or responsibilities are. Shitsuke (Sustaining): Meaning maintaining the optimized standards, and not returning back to the old ways of operating. Six Sigma Six sigma is a statistical problem solving methodology that helps enhance organizational operations. It ensures a quality level of 3.4 defects per million opportunities (DPMO), with a rate of improvement of 70 percent or more. It is data-driven based on the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control method undertaken to create bottom-line breakthrough change.(Statistical Six Sigma Definition 2010). The DMAIC method of six sigma is a formalized problem solving method used to improve effectiveness of the production processes. The six key principles of six sigma involve: (1) Focus on the customer (2) Identify and understand the value stream process (3) Manage, improve and smoothen the process flow (4) Remove non value-added steps and waste (5) Manage by fact and reduce variation (6) Involve and equip the people involved in the process (7) Undertake improvement activities in a systematic way. The success of Moogââ¬â¢s status as a world-class manufacturer and innovator rests largely on its human resources and the programs included in HR development. As seen on Moogââ¬â¢s website, there are testimonies from individuals posted that emulate Moogââ¬â¢s performance management processes (Our People: Asia Pacific 2010), especially the benefits that they have been recipients of. What is encouraging in this scenario is that Moog as organization also benefits from the skills, knowledge and talents gained by the individual. Processes, innovation and technological advancements have more often than not originated within the organization itself ââ¬â a result of trusting its employees to ââ¬Å"runâ⬠the company as innovation and process improvements have always been within armââ¬â¢s length. The effect of caring and uplifting employee morale is not only experienced by Moog, but also by other successful companies, such as The Tata Group of India, Allen and Co, GE, and Toyota. The flattened organizational structure that promotes democracy, easy communication and the sharing of knowledge through social networks currently presents a better means of raising accountability in employees, and also finding and solving operational barriers that can lead to optimization of work. (Maqsood Walker 2007) Just like in any organization, any undertakingââ¬â¢s results can be seen through profit. Moogââ¬â¢s overall annual diluted earnings per share has reached an all-time high in 2009 at $2.75 ââ¬â more than double its amount ten years before at $0.80, under a ten year compound growth rate of 9%. (Moog Annual Report 2009) Although the organization has been affected by the economic crisis, it still brags of $1,849M net sales and $85.1M net earnings. These figures would not have been met if there was a weak support on the HR level, allowing uncontrollable attrition and retrenchments during the financial crisis of 2007 to 2010. The investments the organization has done in developing their manpower and knowledge base has made them resilient in such cases, being affected but not overly alarmed by such crises. The shift in the role of human resource management, from being just administrative business solutions to strategic partners in planning, has been the root of most of Moogââ¬â¢s accomplishments. Strategic decisions, therefore, must take into consideration the welfare of the human resources involved. The shift to honing knowledge workers would create innovations in processes, methods and other operational procedures, enhancing not only that employeeââ¬â¢s team performance but also the performance of the organization as a whole. Continuous improvements under the JIT, six sigma and kaizen methods of operations will take place constantly, causing technological advancements, product advancements and process improvements and cost effectiveness that can benefit the organization itself. Process improvements and innovation is not an instant fix to any operational activity; therefore, time, technology, money and skill are required to carry these through. Skill is the most important ingredient in innovation, and skills can only be taken from the human aspect of any industry; thus the accomplishment of any strategic operations management plan or for any quality method would only be realized through human resources. An Examination of Motivation Among African American Males of Junior Research Paper
An Examination of Motivation Among African American Males of Junior High School Age - Research Paper Example It is a process in which an individual acquires and develops knowledge, understanding, skills, interests and attitude that are necessary to meet lifeââ¬â¢s situations. It is not necessary that the quality of education is the same everywhere. Quality of education depends on how society or government help young students to achieve their educational goals. It is not necessary that all the people may have the same learning or grasping abilities. Learning is a complex process which depends on many factors such as the cultural, intellectual and economic background of the learner. Different people may have different learning styles and learning abilities because of their individual differences. For example, in America, most of the schools may have students from different parts of the world. African Americans are huge in number in America and hence in many of the public and private schools may have a substantial amount of African American students. The learning abilities and the learning styles of American students and the American African students may have huge differences and in many cases, the teacher may faces troubles in teaching a diverse class. Moreover, compared to girls, boys always regarded school as a boring waste of time. America claims that they provide equal learning opportunities for all, however, the Black-White achievement gap still exists. This leads to a variety of political, economic, and social ramifications for students. This paper analyses the reasons why and how, middle school-aged African American boys in the United States are, by that age, especially unmotivated to do well in school. Black males are among the most likely students to take the least rigorous academic schedule and least likely to take advanced math or advanced science- all predictors of college. Black males begin falling behind in reading math and science during the primary grades. Subsequently, they are disproportionately underrepresented in advanced math, science and foreign language class in middle school (Black male achievement, n. d).
